After a long day of work, I could not wait to go to Rusan's, which is my favorite Asian restaurant. I had been craving sushi and green tea ice cream all day. All I could think about was the delicious sticky rice filled with fish and fruit, all wrapped around the best part, seaweed. I sat down and ordered a salmon roll with pineapple and avocado, along with green tea ice cream.
Since my order took so long, I had time to contemplate where all of my delicious food came from. They were all a part of the Columbian Exchange, where foods were traded between the old and new world. The fish and seaweed could be found in both the new and old world, for they live in the big blue ocean. The rice in the sushi, and the milk, sugar, and green tea leaves in the ice cream, came from the old world to the new world. The pineapple and avocado were brought over from the new world to the old world. When the food finally came, I had a better appreciation for how far my food traveled, just to get to my mouth.
