My Trip to Los Rancheros
I walked into Los Rancheros and ordered a Beef Enchilada with a side of rice, beans and a three tacos. As I sat there waiting for what seemed to be like a couple seconds, I thought about how all the things I was ordering were involved in the Columbian Exchange. The beef, which obviously came from a cow, went from the old world to the new world. Before the new world was discovered, not many large animals were in the continent of North America. Wheat, which made the taco shells and the bread for the enchilada went from new world to the old world. There is also maize in the taco shell which come new from old.The rice in the enchilada came from the old world to the new world, the rice originated in China then spread across Europe (the old world). The lettuce, tomato in the taco, and the spicy peppers in the mole sauce went from new to old.
